Green Chile Hash Brown casserole

~I got up 1/2 hour earlier than usual. We got groceries at Walmart & Smith's.

~I helped Anne & Kristen with the Breakfast fundraiser. The casserole was a hit, with several people requesting the recipe. I served as Acolyte # 2 & Lay Reader. I helped with Coffee Hour cleanup.

~I worked on scrap squares.

~When Mike got off work, we went down to Caliber's to pick up my XDM, which had been left on Thursday, to have night sights installed. Glad to have it back!

~I made Mike a bacon cheeseburger wrap for supper.

~We watched Shrek: Forever After. It was okay.

Good Crackers!!

These crackers are AWESOME with Jif Super Chunky peanut butter. They are hearty enough to keep you full for quite a while. I will make 5 "sandwiches" & take them with me for "emergency" food.

~I made a Green Chile hash brown casserole for the Breakfast fundraiser tomorrow at the church. I also vacuumed the rugs & dusted the furniture.

~I finished a Garland of Blossoms scarf in Patina/Multicolor. I also put a Dark rose flower pin on the Mardi Gras scarf. I unintentionally made a "Bonnet", by making the first round of a Roseburg Hat with 12 stitches instead of 10. It is pouffier on top, but just as cute. Oh, in Country Rose with a big faux pearl button. I spent the rest of the afternoon doing scrap stuff.

2 Million

Often, the gun is never fired. Just showing the bad guy you have a weapon may be enough to deter a crime(but it is essential you have the proper training to use the weapon, if needed). Criminals are cowards and will choose the victim who looks, most likely, not to fight back (example: the students in the last CCW Draw Class: the very small, thin man, the lady-just because she's a female-, the older gentleman, the larger man with bad knees, etc.)

~I made S'more Brownies using this recipe. So much easier than the way I used to do it! I also made a batch of bacon, sorted veggies, did two loads of laundry & swept the floors. All before 10am!!

~I stopped by the church to pick up a food bag, mailing off 4 newsletters that weren't picked up on Wednesday. After delivering the bag, I went to Goodwill(a skirt, cropped cargo pants & long sleeve shirt), Family Thrift Center (nothing) & got a few groceries at Albertson's.

~I made a Buttonhole Scarf in unknown retro Mardi Gras green. I will be adding a flower pin.

~We had grilled cheesy hotdog wraps for supper.

~We watched "The Mechanic". It was a little too bloody & intense for me, but Jason is easy on the eyes ;)

He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. Psalm 91:4

~CCW Draw Class Day 2: As always, huge improvement in the students with the draw technique. Mainly, need to go slower to make hits. I was used as an example on Failure Drill.

~Date Nite: Timed drills for Controlled pair, Failure Drill & Reload. Got a new best time at the 3yd line Controlled Pair. Previously 1.47, now 1.45! I did not do well with reloading, will need to practice with the XDM. All in all, fun weekend!

~We went up to the office so Mike could do some work on the lap top computer. I set up the coffee for after mass.

~We stopped off at Walmart before heading down to the range to help with CCW Draw Class. Six men, one lady. It was a smaller class than usual, but it gave each student more one-on-one attention. We were very tired at the end of the day.

Cookies for Breakfast!

Oatmeal cookies with sunflower seeds & golden raisins

~At the office, I worked on Sunday bulletins for August before doing edits on this Sundays bulletins with Ms. Jeannine. Afterwards, we went over to the Prayer Shawl Ministry closet so she could pick out a lap blanket for her son & a shawl for her friend. Back in the office, I paid bills (Norm loved the cookies pictured above & the free range passes!), finished the bulletins, put stamps on the newsletters, worked some more on the August bulletins & even finished most of the 2012 Tennebrae bulletin! I'm glad my regular schedule is three 6-hour days instead of two 8-hour days!

~Mike was already home when I arrived. We had ham/cheese wraps & multigrain chips. He had a sweet pickle (kak!). He then left for a meeting at Napa.

Tie rack as long-necklace holder

~I am working today so I can have Wednesday off. I did final edits on the newsletter, got it printed/collated/stapled/folded/addressed & taped. I will have to wait until Norm brings stamps tomorrow to stamp them. I also worked on bulletins & sent them home with Fr. Jim for edits.

Sunflower seeds & golden raisins-Mini Reese's Pieces-Mini chocolate chips-plain. I also swept the floors.

~Back home, I sorted through some donated yarn, making 2 Stained Glass granny squares & a hat in 1970's Fall Splendor. It is surprisingly soft!

~Mike worked regular hours! We had burgers for super.

Thursday, July 21, 2011

Mmmm!

Paradise Bars using orange cookie crust, dried pineapple, papaya, craisins, almonds & white chips.

~I took Mike to work.

~At the office, Ms. Jeannine came in for edits to the bulletins. I got them printed/folded/inserted pretty quick. I spent the rest of the day doing edits on a Holy Week bulletin for next year. I know, early, but I HATE waiting til the last minute to do anything. We handed out 10 bags at the Food Pantry. I mailed out the LEM license forms( mine's in there!).

~Date Nite: After warm ups, we shot with our eyes closed. I know this sounds strange, but the idea is to "feel" your stance/hand position with out the distraction of seeing the target. I found I was more on target by widening my stance & putting more weight forward on my left foot. I'm very pleased with the results!

Repurpose!

Candle sconces repurposed as necklace holders.

~At the office, I worked on the newsletter, enjoyed fellowship after the 10am mass &did the final count on the donated yarn. I brought 2 bags of donated yarn home for sorting.

~Mike closed the store.

One of his FPU students brought in a TON of yarn for the Prayer Shawl Ministry! Some old, some new. I got all the stuff ready for the Vestry meeting tonight.

~Mike closed the store & had just enough time to change clothes & grab a PB/AB wrap before heading up to the Vestry meeting.

~Back home, I swept, did a load of laundry & straightened up the house. I also took a nap!
~I made a Durango Hat in HL ILTY White Tweed. I forgot to mention that on Saturday, during the yard sale, I made a Cheyenne Hat in LB VC Gray Tweed.
~We watched Pirates of the Caribbean:At World's End. I slept through part of it.

~Monday: After stopping at Big Lots, I helped load bags at the Food Pantry. I also called in payroll & picked up a food bag for delivery. ~Date Nite: After warmups, we did the APD qualifying drills. I scored 94% & 92%. The first time I did this, about a year ago, I failed the first test & didn't even try the second test. The second time about 6 months ago, I passed with a score of 82%. So, i can say, with practice come profiency! The last drill we did, 3-yard 5-round Hammer, my first hit was 1.53. Girl's Night Out

Better than expensive drinks & a bad hangover!

~Mike came into work with me to look at Janet's computer. I printed out the bulletins and reading inserts for the service tomorrow, enjoyed fellowship after the 10am mass & updated the website calendar. Mike came back in the afternoon and brought in my old laptop, which is much newer than Janet's.

~I made a Blossom Collar in LB Microspun Ebony. I joined 4 blossoms from my Garland of Blossoms scarf and sewed on 2 vintage shell buttons for a closure. It is very elegant!

~We had bacon cheeseburger wraps for supper, along with Jazz apple slices. They taste like a combination of apples & pears.

~We watched "I am Number Four". It was a little heavy on the teen dram for me, but the action was good.

What is it?

Mom got me this wire thing last year when her & Dad came to visit. Neither of us knew what it was, but it followed the bit of black I have going on throughout the house. Well, this last time Mom came, she told me what it was. She had seen one in an antique store. It's a plate hanger! This blue/white salad plate was the only one I had that would fit, but I love it!

~At the office, I started a bulletin for a memorial service to be held on Thursday. I will be Crucifer, Acolyte & Lay Reader. The final tally for Pilgrims-in-Christ confirmation class is set & books have been ordered.

~I made a Roseburg Hat in Blue Sky/Sunflower.

~With only 10 bags to do at the Food Pantry, Chuck said he could take care of them himself. I did do my usual Monday 9am Big Lots trip. All Bran crackers $1 a box! I got 3!!

~I then went on a hunt for Red Heart Supersaver Mid Brown. I had already tried Hobby Lobby on Jaun Tabo & Walmart, so I went to Michaels & they didn't have it either! Ditto for HL Wyoming & Joanns. I have decided to use HL I Love This yarn Toasted Almond, but I am waiting for a 40%-off coupon!

Good to be back!!

My first No Bake Cookies. Mom helped while she was visiting a few weeks ago.

~Date Nite: We got to the range early to pick up my new Springfield XDM 9mm 3.8! It is awesome!! I had made a 1/2-down payment last week & got a call on Tuesday from Andrew saying it had come in. I was able to pay off the rest of it, with a little left over, from selling the Kahr K9. I did like the Kahr, but it was not designed to put as many rounds through it as I do. I shot the XDM before class & it feels like there nothing in my hand. The combination of weight, size makes it shoot like butter! After warming up, we had three controlled shooting competitions at distances of 3-5-7 yards. I came in 1st, 2nd & 3rd! Have I told you how much I LOVE my XDM?!

~After dropping off a shirt at Napa (Mike had texted me he ripped a button off!), I went to Smith's to get groceries for the church Food Pantry. Julie, who normally does it, is on vacation & I have been doing it for the last month.

~I stopped by Hobby Lobby to pick up some RHS Mid Brown for a lap blanket & they didn't have any! I used my coupon on a skein of LBVC Gray Marble.

~I dropped the groceries off at the church & took a food bag to a parishioner.

~At Goodwill, I got 2 bowls, but nothing at Family Thrift Center.

~Back home, I sorted sugar, rice, beans & tea bags into individual servings for the Food Pantry. I also did a load of laundry & swept the floors.

~I made an Artisan Scarf in Patons Divine "Richest Rose". This yarn is so soft & pretty! Sadly, it has mohair in it & makes me itch.

~I made Mike a Cheesy Hot Dog Grilled Wrap for supper.
