Hat & Scarf Set Sold!

Special-order Granny Square Set in White sold to Alice in IL

~I am working today & tomorrow 9am-5pm so I can have Wed/Thur off. I spent the first 2 hours printing out stewardship stuff & I think I messed up the copy machine. It has 4 drawers for paper & the top drawer has paper but does not see paper. I called the copier people who will be out to fix it tomorrow. I finally got to my regular sorting of mail, checking emails, etc, I normally do. I also worked on bulletins, prayers & printed out pledge cards, cutting those into the proper sizes. Mom called, not knowing I was at work, & we talked only a few minutes. The rest of the day was smooth.

~I put on my Halloween costume & headed to the Mallory's for the Haunted Garage. It is so much fun! Mike came later.

Plan B

"Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it."
-Capt. Woodrow Call, Lonesome Dove

~I did a load of laundry, then went to a different Smith's to check on their wraps. They didn't have the Flatouts, so I got yogurt, soda & a pumpkin for carving tonight. I took these groceries home, then went up to the Family Thrift Center for a long-sleeve cream T-shirt to wear with my costume on Halloween. I had a tank top, but it looks like it will be too cool for that.

~I finished the Crunch Hat in Teal/White, and the Cheyenne Hat in RHS Fleck Frosty Green/Warm Brown. I also worked some on scrap squares.

~I made Rotini with Cheese Sauce & Lil' Smokies for the Mallory's Annual Pumpkin Carving party. I carved a little pumpkin. We had a good time!

I also made signs for the Pancake Fundraiser on Sunday, printed out flyers for the Food Fair & Bazaar, and listed that event on 4 online places. We gave away all 20 bags at the Food Pantry. I made a grocery list, since I will be restocking the shelves this week. I did a little more on stewardship & will go to print on some of it on Monday.

~Date Nite: I qualified with a .38 revolver, which I did not do when I got my CCW license over 3 years ago. Rick let me borrow his big Ruger, which was easy to shoot. Of course, I made 100%!
After warmups, we worked on off-hand drills: shooting, reloading, racking, etc. After break, we did timed Failure Drills. I had a new personal best-Failure Drill at 3 yards at 2.0 seconds!

Garland of Blossoms scarf in Light Sage/Multi sold to Jim in IL

~I stopped at Big Lots (crackers & paper plates), before heading up to the church to help Chuck load bags at the Food Pantry. I also called in payroll & sorted mail.

~I stopped by the new Goodwill, but I just don't like it as much. It is bigger & brighter, but the racks are jammed so tight, you can't find anything. Also, they don't have things as categorized as they used to. I did see a couple of cute cross-stitch pictures, but not in my colors. Supposedly, they are turning the old Goodwill into a .99 thrift store. We'll see. I got some soup & ingredients for Hashbrown Casserole at Smith's. They had the flat pretzels, which I cover with chocolate & crushed peppermints on sale 2 for $4, so I got some.

~Back home, I made a pan of brownies & did a load of laundry.

Hat Sold!!

Sedona Hat in Mulberry Bush/Bitter Rose sold to Laura in IN

~I made a pan of Cinnamon Coconut bars & cooked up a batch of bacon. I now have enough grease for Swedish Ginger Cookies!

~I started a special-order Granny Square scarf to go with a hat that a customer pulled from my store. Since I didn't have enough 2-round square to make the scarf, I pulled random colors of solid & multi colors from my stash, trying to make the colors random. Since I had the different yarns out, I used the leftovers for scrap squares. I did have enough RHS Watercolor to make a Tie Dye Beanie. I have 2 squares left on the scarf, then I will edge it in a round of sc. Surprisingly, this is the first Granny Square scarf I have ever made!

~I made Mike a grilled ham & cheese wrap for supper.

Hats Sold!!

Cheyenne Hat in Grey Marble/Toffee
Cheyenne Hat in Irish Coffee/Rich Raisin
Both hats sold to Angela in TX

~Halloween 1/2-price sale at Family Thrift Center. I always go about 15 minutes before the store opens, not to stand in line (I REFUSE!), but to get a parking space. I took a skein of RHS Aran Fleck & started a Cheyenne hat. I did have to move because a van pulled up next to me & blocked my view of the line! I also brought my huge quilted bag (thrift store-I think it held a comforter set), because sometimes they run out of baskets (I don't mess with a cart-when the bag is full, I'm done!). Anyway, I did my usual perimeter walk (housewares, pictures, home decor, accessories, craft supplies) then the shoes. I found a BRAND-NEW pair of Black Skechers Parties Mates, a L.L.Bean plaid shirt for Mike, a skirt, two print T-shirts & a skirt for $18.13. I luvs me some 1/2-price day!

~I dropped off Oatmeal Jam bars for the Napa Boys.

~I stopped at Dollar Tree & found a few things, then to both Michael's & Hobby Lobby for the Gemstone yarn. Either they don't make it anymore, or I just am unlucky! It may be easier to just take Ms. Dorothy to Hobby Lobby & let her pick out another color!

~Back home, I made a Cheyenne Hat in RHS Aran Fleck/Warm Brown & a Flapper Beanie in RHS Cafe/Frosty Green Fleck.

~I made Mike a chicken bacon cheese wrap for supper.

~We watched The Book of Eli. It is one of the best movies ever!

Hat Sold!!

Barstow Hat in Cream/Peach sold to Mary in VA

~Mike & me have the day off together!! Nothing exciting planned, just cool that we get to be together. He did some reloading & shut down the coolers for the season. I made a pan of Oatmeal Jam Bars with the jar of peach jam the Hunter's brought back from their TX trip. To me, they are too sweet, but Mike said "don't change a thing". I did some housecleaning & pulled out my folding craft table to see how the revolving shoe rack will work for a hat display. It is just right! Mike picked up the back yard, while I trimmed the rose bushes & pulled weeds.

~After lunch, We went to JoAnns to check on RHS Gemstone yarn, which they didn't have. However, they have upgraded the store & there's more yarn! We stopped by Albertsons for milk & bread & delivered the food bag.

~Back home, I made a Barstow Hat in CSS Black/Limelight. It is a kid size & very weird, but someone will like it!

~Date Nite: One of the range employees told us our instructor would be late due to an accident. He arrive about 15 minutes late. His dog had started to attack his lady & he intervened. The dog did quite a bit of damage to his left hand. The dog was put down. We had only 7 people, so we went down range & shot on the move. I did good except for missing a few shots. I need to concentrate on my sights. The instructor stopped class early due to the pain he was in. He asked us to come with him to the pharmacy as protection.

Walking on Sunshine!!

This outfit makes me happy! The floral skirt (thrift shop) is one of the few yellow items I have (this color normally does not look good with my skin-tone), but when it's paired with a periwinkle Tshirt(thrift shop), 1950's vintage choker (estate sale) & clear brown earrings (Dollar Tree), it is the way to wear it!

A different kind of animal...

From Cornered Cat: Deadly force is justified in response to forceful rape not because rape always involves death or grave bodily harm(although it too often does), but because there is a clearly-understood threat that the rapist will kill or seriously hurt his victim if she does not cooperate.

***SPOILER ALERT!!!***
No loving wife & mother would just walk away from her family because she can't handle it.
A boy raised in this post-apocalyptic world would not be so whiny.
Why sleep outside in the weather so much when there was always some kind of shelter available?
Did we really need to see the main character naked, twice?
