~At the office, I made edits to the bulletins with Ms. Jeannine, paid bills, printed/folded/stuffed bulletins, worked on the March newsletter(like to get a jump on everything!). We got our first request for an application to the May craft show! So excited now!!

~I made Mike a chicken bacon cheese wrap for supper. I had split pea & ham soup.

~We watched Rooster Cogburn. Though this movie is 37 years old, it is one of the BEST! Eula Goodnight is the original church lady/gunfighter. She's my hero!

~I worked on a Scrap Granny Square lap blanket, using retro Red Heart Sparkling yarn in Apricot Nectar. It is a happy color!

~I made Mike a meatball sandwich for supper.

Artisan Scarf in Cloud Nine sold to Colleen in IL

~I finished the Red Heart Supersaver Blue Diamond prayer shawl.

~I made Carrot Cake with a 24-count mini muffin pan. They stuck! So, I used cream cheese frosting & made them into balls for later coating with white Candi-Quik for Truffle Balls. The 9-count rectangle pan worked good, so those will be iced with the frosting. I also cooked a pound of sausage, did a load of laundry & swept the floors.

~I decided to make a Butterfly Pinafore, a pattern from the 1970's, using the Lion Brand Cotton Ease Seaspray. It turned out adorable, with vintage white glass floral buttons. It is more of a shortie vest for a 24" chest.

~Mike got off work early. We had omelet wraps for supper.

Spectator-a woman's fashion accessory consisting of two contrasting colors. This fits!

~I went to the Family Thrift Center & tried on a cover shirt, but it was way big. It is amazing to me the difference in a small from different manufacturers. Some are teeny tiny while others are like tents! I have found that the best women's small clothes come from Anne Taylor Loft, New York & Company and Banana Republic. These manufacturer's seem to understand that we want to dress with class & style.

~I stopped by Albertson's for eggs($1 per dozen-I got 4!), spice cake mix, carrots, pineapple(making carrot cupcakes tomorrow!), hashbrowns & green chiles). The final stop before heading home was dropping off Oatmeal Cookies for the Napa Boys.

~I tried using the small sewing machine I got at auction, but it was a piece of poop! I will have to rethink making the crochet-top pillowcase dresses. I did make another Button Medallion Necklace. I started with a Bridal Blue, but ran out of that color on the edging, so I used Cream. I then used a Cream/Gold button & it looks so pretty! These are fast & easy to make & should be good sellers in the spring.

~I made Green Chile Hashbrown casserole for the Annual Meeting Potluck on Sunday.

~I used some 1970's Jungle multicolor for 4-round granny square & a Tie Dye Beanie. This is some funky yarn, 2 shades of green with rust & brown. It almost looks like Dazzleaire with the slightly sparkly & fuzzy look.

~I made Mike a grilled cheesy hotdog wrap for supper.

~We watched Serenity. We will miss these guys!

~Date Nite: I spent the night with the LCR. My hits and reload times are better. Mike cut a piece of the leather holster off because it was getting in the way of my grip.

January is Hot Tea Month. I left up my little tree (thrift store) from Christmas. I added an embroidered napkin (yard sale) for the "skirt" then added the teapot topper (gift), infusing balls(thrift shops, yard sales, gifts), petite four sticks with glass tea pots (gift), teapot/cup stick pin (gift), Miss Priss (yard sale) & tea cup/saucer ornaments (gift).

Ms. Priss wanted her closeup so you could see her silver spoon (thrift store)

~Mike drove me to work early, where we folded/taped/stamped the newsletters. Norm came in to pay bills. Ms. Jeannine came in with edits to the bulletin. I got them printed/folded/inserted. I did some more work on the annual report, with Ms. Jeanine calling in with some changes.

~I made a special-order Purdue Boa Scarf in unknown Black/Lion Brand Fun Fur Champagne & finished the edging on the Fire (shades of red, orange & rust)granny square lap blanket.

~We had pepperoni & cheese omelet wraps for supper & watched the last 2 episodes of Firefly.

~I made a special-order Boa Scarf in KU colors: Red Heart Supersaver Royal, Crafters Corner eyelash in Medium golden yellow & Lion Brand Homespun Covered Bride(mixed reds). It's pretty!

~I made Mike a grilled cheesy wrap, sweet pickle & Sunchip supper. We watched 2 more episodes of Firefly.

Apple Bran Muffin with golden raisins & sunflower seeds

~I stopped by Big Lots before heading up to the church to load bags at the Food Pantry. I sorted mail, checked my emails.

~At the Family Thrift Center, I found a pair of Hawaiian print pillow cases on sale 1/2-price to make little girl dresses. I then went to Hobby Lobby to check on yarn to match. They don't carry Cotton Ease, but their I Love This Cotton! is very soft, so I got a skein of Taupe. When I got home, I found the Seaspray I bought last week also matches!

~I made a pan of fudge brownies, did a load of laundry & swept the floors. It was 2pm by the time the pillow cases were washed/dried, so I will wait until Saturday to start my girl dress. I did make a mesh soap cozy in Ecru thread.

~We had ham & cheese omelets for supper & watched 2 more episodes of Firefly.

~I stopped by the Family Thrift Center,but didn't find anything. I then went to Albertson's to check out their prices. I had made a list of the items we buy on a regular basis with columns for Walmart, Albertsons & Smith's. I then added the Albertson's prices. I found that the only thing less expensive than Walmart was eggs. There were some sale items that were a better price (mushrooms, black olives & cocoa mix), so I went ahead & got those. I dropped off Oatmeal cookies for the Napa Boys.

~Back home, I had no inspiration to crochet, so I spent the afternoon watching Project Runway & drinking mint tea.

~We had summer sausage omelet wraps for supper & watched 2 more episodes of Firefly.

In Red Heart Supersaver Rose Pink using the Ocean Tranquility Afghan pattern from Anastacia Knits. The stitch pattern is a multiple of 10 plus 3, so it can be adapted to any size. It was an easy pattern.

~Mike took me to work. I got a copy of the newsletter printed for editing before Ms. Jeannine came in for edits to the bulletins. I got those printed/folded/stuffed before 11am. I worked on the bulletin for next week. We handed out 14 bags at the Food pantry. One of our regulars gave me a pair of cross earrings in red glass. They are so pretty!

~We stopped by Joanns for 50%-off on a skein of Lion Brand CottonEase Seaspray. I will be trying this for the bodice of Pillowcase dresses.

~We had meatballs for supper. Mike's were on a flat round with cheese, multigrain tortilla chips & a splenda-sweet pickle. Mine was with asian stir fry veggies & greek dressing.

~We watched the first episode of Firefly, which we had to order from an online rental service because the person we let borrow our set returned it without the first disc! We LOVE this series. If you have never watched it, rent it NOW!

~Date Nite: This was moved to tonight due to a special CCW class scheduled for Thu-Fri. That class was cancelled. After warmups, we worked on specific requests from students. Reloading, not now & trigger control. I did mess up my first reload, but did find that if I loosen up on my grip, my shots are better. I am still the most accurate of the class. One drill, all 4 of my shots went in the same hole.

~I made a batch of Oatmeal cookies, but they ran badly. I did use all butter & real white sugar when I normally do just under half crisco for butter & Splenda. They still taste good, just not pretty. I swept the floors & cooked up a pound of sausage.

~I made a Star doily in natural thread. It's actually a dishcloth pattern, but I don't make dishcloths. I could see this pattern used as a baby blanket in worsted yarn! This is a very easy, repetitive pattern.

~We watched In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale. This is a good fantasy movie where the good guys win.

Swedish Ginger Cookies on a birth-month saucer(with matching tea cup-a gift from Mom). It takes about 2 pounds of bacon to get enough bacon grease to make these cookies. One usually thinks of spicy cookies as a holiday thing, but I make these year-round & they are liked by all!

I made the Oatmeal Jam Bars, but think I processed the dry ingredients too long & should have used the dough blade instead of the cutting blade. But, it is now no longer "the Terminator on the counter", as I used to refer to it. As a side note, I used a jar of apricot preserves from the Dollar Tree. It was good quality with chunks of apricots & a good price of $1!

~I finished a Roseburg Hat in Midnight Swim/Knapsack & started a Garland of Blossoms scarf in retro Spinnerin Mosaic rose/white ombre, using Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn Dark Olive for the joining leaves.

~I went to The Family Thrift Center, where I got Mike a shirt & us a little Christmas Tree. I had decided I didn't want to drag the big one from the attic, so didn't plan on even having a tree. But, this little one(will post a picture) was adorable & 75% off($1.50). We both love it! I dropped off Peanut Butter Crispies for the Napa Boys.

~Back home, I dusted the furniture. Mike came home at 1:30pm.

~ We attended both the 5pm & Midnite mass. At the 5pm, Mike was usher, while I was Crucifer, lay Reader, Acolyte & LEM. At the Midnite mass, I was Crucifer & Acolyte #2, Mike was usher.

~It was a wonderful Christmas Eve!

Chocolate Peppermint Pretzel Chips-These are one of my favorite things!

~The roads were clear when I went out around 9am. I spent probably and hour at Dollar Tree before getting groceries at Walmart. Mike had received a $67 gift card from work for doing a good job on the last sale day. It paid for most of the groceries!

~Back home, I just lounged around until it was time for the Gray funeral, the son of one of our parishioners. I was one of 11 members from St. Mary's to attend.

~Back home, I again lounged around until Mike came home. We went to the funeral of his co-worker. I think i have had about all of these I want for a while.

~I goat all 200 Christmas Eve/Day bulletins printed out & spent the rest of the day working on the email version of the newsletter. I tried several pre-made templates, but ended up designing my own. Lots of work to start, but when it's done, it will be easy just to replace text/pictures later on. We gave away all 20 bags at the Food Pantry in 15 minutes. One of the regular clients brought me mini loaves of Pumpkin & Banana breads. I gave her & another regular client Star ornaments. Mike came up & ran the cord for the microphone to be used during the Christmas pageant.

~Date nite:Only 6 people. We worked on sights, feeling the trigger, shooting from retention, & on the move. I found out that I have been moving my upper body as I push the gun out, which was throwing me off balance. I need to work on it, along with getting my finger on the trigger earlier.
The roads were slick on the way home.

Angel Eggs-plain & spinach, with Splenda sweet pickles

~Mike drove me to work & check to make sure there was no damage to the roof from the wind last week. I was done with the bulletins by 10:30am & worked on calenders & newsletter for January. Roy came in & bought a hat from me & Norm brought my syrup. We gave away all 20 bags at the food pantry.

~Date Nite: After warmups, we concentrated on finding the sights & multiple small targets on one target sheet. After break, both Mike & I shot our revolvers. It is super-quick drawing from the front pocket with your hand already on the gun. I was very pleased with how easy the revolver is to shoot.

~It is wicked cold this morning, with wind and snow. Mike had to use the hairdryer to unfreeze the locks on my Jeep to even start it to warm it up!

~I stopped at Big Lots (nothing) before heading up to the church to help Chuck load food bags. I did lose a little traction turning from Jaun Tabo onto Indian School, but nothing I couldn't handle. I also called in payroll. A little more loss of traction at the same place in the opposite direction, but now I'm home & staying here!

~We went up to the church early, just to make sure everything was going okay. The heat was good in the Music Room & Vesting Room. It turned out to be Anne & John Malmstrom's 63rd Anniversary! At the 10:30am service, I was Crucifer & Acolyte #1. The Colton boys were serving with me, which was cool. Bishop Vono was there for Confirmation/Reception/Reaffirmation. The candidates received Prayer Shawls & a Throw from the Prayer Shawl Ministry. It was a good morning!

How interesting to find a clock made from a whiskey barrel top from KY in a NM thrift shop! I saw it for $10 but didn't buy it. Thought about it for a week, went back & it was $5! It was wired with an old cord, so we removed it & put a battery-operated works on it.

~At the office, I went through the online Ethics training class. Ms. Jeannine came in with edits to the bulletins. I got them printed/folded. We gave away all 20 bags at the Food Pantry in 15 minutes. I converted the stewardship brochure from Publisher to Word & sent it in a parish-wide email.

~Date Nite: mom & Dad came down to the range with us. After warmups, we did the whole night with reloading drills. I need to really slam home the larger mag as I had 3 failure-to-seats. My reloads were good, though, & first shot times. Mom & Dad shot during the break, the first time Dad has ever shot a hand gun. He liked it!

~After breakfast, I swept the floors & cleaned the front bath. Mom & Dad are coming today for a weeks visit!

~At the office, I worked on bulletins, enjoyed coffee hour & converted the stewardship brochure from Publisher to Word so it can be emailed to the parish. Mom & Dad came by the office about 1:30pm.

Roseburg Hat in Bermuda Sand/Tropic Sunset sold to Barbara in PA, a repeat customer

~It snowed this morning on the way to work! Not flakes, little pellets. It lasted about 1/2 an hour, but it was cool. I got the brochures printed/folded, worked on bulletins & helped in the afternoon stuff envelopes.

~I changed clothes & vacuumed rugs & dusted some. When Mike got home, we went to Lowe's for 3 thermostats for the church.

~We had cheesy chicken wraps for supper.

~I put together a Garland of Blossoms scarf in Zen/Multicolor.

~After breakfast, I made bacon & started cleaning the kitchen.

~I went down to the Department of Safety to add an endorsement to my license. They don't take cash, so I wen to the bank and got a cashiers check & took it back up there. I helped load bags at the Food Pantry, helped the ladies with sorting of White Elephant/Raffle items, took care of some insurance business & gassed up the Jeep.

~Back home, I swept the floors, scrubbed the tile in the kitchen/utility rooms & vacuumed some rugs.

~I made blossoms in yellows & pinks.

~Mike closed the store.

~We got groceries at Walmart & Smith's. I cut up a fruit salad for Coffee Hour.

~I attended 10:30 am service where I served as Crucifer & Acolyte. I helped clean up after Coffee Hour.

~Back home, I started straightening up the yarn room. I made One Big Granny security blanket for Xander with yarn provided by Lauren, LB Roving in Royal Blue. I had 3 skeins, used an N hook & it turned out to be 28" square.

~When Mike got home, we rearranged the furniture in my yarn room to turn it into a guest room. We had burgers for supper.

Timberon Hat in Moonglow/Snowy Pines sold to Barbara in PA

~I made Peanut Butter Buckeye Bars, did 2 loads of laundry, swept the floors & dusted.

~AT 11am, I went up to the church, where Anne Meyer helped me put up the Woolly Tree. I had found a bag of hats/gloves from last year & Anne brought some more gloves, so we put them on the tree. I stopped by the Family Thrift Center(nothing), picked up a few groceries, dropped off the food bag, stopped by Big Lots (nothing) and dropped off Turtle Brownies for the Napa Boys.

~I spent the rest of the afternoon tagging hats.

I like to think of it as "continuing education"!

~Day 2 of Defensive AR 15 Class. Just a small bit of classroom time going over malfunctions, then off to the range. Warmups, baselines then onto reloading, multiple targets, etc. We also got to shoot a full auto, which i didn't care for. Randy says I have picked up the operation of this weapon faster than any woman he has ever trained, including military & police. We stayed for Date Nite. We had 15 people, so it was mainly timed drills.

Flapper Beanie in Peppercorn/Wild Rice sold to Holly in MD

~We stopped by the office to set up coffee & pick up a food bag before heading down to the range for Defensive AR15 Class. We had about 3 hours of classroom time then on to the range. I decided to use Mike's rifle because it has a pistol grip & orange front sights which I have been practicing with for the past 6 weeks. It is a lot different when it comes to actually shooting! The guys always talked about how little recoil it has compared to most hunting rifles. Well, I have only shot a .22 rifle & this is WAY different. It doesn't hurt to shoot, it just has so much recoil that I missed about half my head shots. I will have to slow down tomorrow, knowing it moves me around alot. Overall, it was a good first day!

I started out with the idea of Alice in Resident Evil:Apocalypse. Of course, Mila is in the desert & I'm in colder weather, so I didn't go as skimpy. From the thrift store, I got the camo leggings, cream undershirt, brown over shirt, cord duster, neck scarf & bandolier belt(over shoulder). From my "costume closet", web waist & thigh belts, fingerless gloves. From my regular closet, western boots(not in the picture), leather belt, holster rig, canvas bag. From Mike's stuff, hunting knife, boot knife(not in pic), watch & canvas cap.

Special-order Granny Square Set in White sold to Alice in IL

~I am working today & tomorrow 9am-5pm so I can have Wed/Thur off. I spent the first 2 hours printing out stewardship stuff & I think I messed up the copy machine. It has 4 drawers for paper & the top drawer has paper but does not see paper. I called the copier people who will be out to fix it tomorrow. I finally got to my regular sorting of mail, checking emails, etc, I normally do. I also worked on bulletins, prayers & printed out pledge cards, cutting those into the proper sizes. Mom called, not knowing I was at work, & we talked only a few minutes. The rest of the day was smooth.

~I put on my Halloween costume & headed to the Mallory's for the Haunted Garage. It is so much fun! Mike came later.

~I did a load of laundry, then went to a different Smith's to check on their wraps. They didn't have the Flatouts, so I got yogurt, soda & a pumpkin for carving tonight. I took these groceries home, then went up to the Family Thrift Center for a long-sleeve cream T-shirt to wear with my costume on Halloween. I had a tank top, but it looks like it will be too cool for that.

~I finished the Crunch Hat in Teal/White, and the Cheyenne Hat in RHS Fleck Frosty Green/Warm Brown. I also worked some on scrap squares.

~I made Rotini with Cheese Sauce & Lil' Smokies for the Mallory's Annual Pumpkin Carving party. I carved a little pumpkin. We had a good time!

~After breakfast, I made a batch of Swedish Ginger Cookies. It made 43 cookies, 3 dozen are going to the Food Fair & Bazaar.

~I got groceries at Walmart for the Food Pantry, got a few things at Albertsons, dropped off the food bag, unloaded the Food Pantry groceries at the church, & mail. I stopped by the GoodBargain store(.99 Goodwill) & tried on 3 shirts, but they didn't cover well.

~Back home, I made Hashbrown Casserole & made a special-order Granny Square hat & Scarf with the main color being White.

~I made Mike a chicken bacon cheese wrap for supper.

~Mike came to work with me & we finished the newsletters. Ms. Jeannine came in for edits, then I printed out the bulletins. I also made signs for the Pancake Fundraiser on Sunday, printed out flyers for the Food Fair & Bazaar, and listed that event on 4 online places. We gave away all 20 bags at the Food Pantry. I made a grocery list, since I will be restocking the shelves this week. I did a little more on stewardship & will go to print on some of it on Monday.

~Date Nite: I qualified with a .38 revolver, which I did not do when I got my CCW license over 3 years ago. Rick let me borrow his big Ruger, which was easy to shoot. Of course, I made 100%!
After warmups, we worked on off-hand drills: shooting, reloading, racking, etc. After break, we did timed Failure Drills. I had a new personal best-Failure Drill at 3 yards at 2.0 seconds!
