Victim? I think not!

Some people don't have the option of running away. They deserve to protect themselves at all times!

~After breakfast, I made a tray of Spinach Devil Eggs for Susan's Tea this afternoon.

~I helped Anne & Mell clean up after coffee hour, snce the 2 people who were supposed to host weren't there. I have agreed to be an usher, along with Jim Harper,on 2nd Sundays.

~I went home, changed my clothes, then headed back up to Anne's for Susan's 8th Sobriety Birthday tea. It was great fun!

~Back to church for 4:30pm Contemporary service(23 people). There was talk of getting a banner for the side of the church, facing the street,to bring in new people.

~I made Mike a Ham/Cheese/Bacon wrap for supper.

~I finished the Bright granny lap blanket. It is so cheerful!

Mmmmmm!

Cocoa Banana muffin tops with Vanilla Cream cheese frosting. Renamed by Mike Mallory "Little Cathy Snack Cakes".

~Susan & I went yardsaling, then had lunch at Just Muffin Around with the Hogan's. The green chile stew was excellent!

~Using a partial skein of retro multicolor yarn I call "Montana Sunset"(blue, rust, purple, raw sienna),I made a 4-round Stained Glass granny square, Turtle "Nellwyn" with a rust body & a Little Octopus.

~I went to music practice at 4:40pm. With only 3 other soft-singing ladies,I sounded too load & off-key to my own ears!

~I made Mike a chicken bacon cheese sammies for supper.

~I worked on the Country Rose prayer shawl.

Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy. Psalm 47:1

Note to all crocheters:
If you want the pattern for the Diamond Prayer Shawl, please email me at yarncat@hotmail.com .I am unable to copy/paste the pattern here.

~I went early to Albertson's to pick up peanut butter at 10 for $10 for the food pantry. There was no limit,so I got 30 jars(enough for 2 weeks). I also picked up regular baking cocoa(for baking, lol) & special Dark for Mocha.

~Back home,I tried a new recipe for Cranberry Walnut Oatmeal cookies. Of course,I modified it by using Craisins, pecans, splenda & wheat flour. Along with the 1tsp cinnamon the recipe called for,I added a couple dashes each of nutmeg, cloves & ginger. They are crunchy on the outside, slightly chewy on the inside & AWESOME!! It's a big recipe & made bunch of cookies.

~I finished a Wenatchee Hat in Caron Pounder Dark Violet with Cool Pearl beads in dark & light gray.

~When Mike got home, we went to Lowe's to pick up a new flap for the dog door. We had to buy the whole unit instead. Got it home & it was the wrong size. Mike ordered one just like the one we had online.

~I made Mike a bacon cheeseburger sammie for supper while I had apepperoni wrap dipped in tomato sauce.

~I put together more Bright Squares.

Old-Timey

Speckled enamelware reminds me of my grandma's houses. This black/white collander was found at Goodwill for 99cents. I LOVE it,rusty spots & all!

~Bulletins, liturgical readings printed. The typewriter isn't scary anymore, though I still only use it when I have to,LOL. Gave away 20 bags at the food pantry & had to turn away 2 people.

~I dropped of Peanut Butter Cup cookies for the Napa Boys.

~Date Nite was interesting. There were 11 of us, so we did weak-hand drills, placing our strong hands in the back of our belts & drawing/shooting/reloading/clearing malfunctions with the weak hand. I did the shoot 2/reload/shoot 2 the quickest(maybe beacuse I'm the youngest & most flexible,LOL),but cannot lock my slide back with one hand no matter which technique I tried. My Kahr K40 has a short barrel(3.5")& a tight recoil spring. I have a hard time doing it even with two hands!

Prayer Shawl

Diamond Prayer Shawl in Caron Pounder Claret.

~I cut up the Ginger Coconut bars I made on Monday. They seem to cut easier when you leave them in the pan a few days. I started a load of laundry.

~I had to wait until after 10:30am to start printing the newsletter. Mike came up around 12:30pm & helped me put them together, then mailed them for me.
~I started a new prayer Shawl in RHS Pounder Country rose(from Jenn) using a scarf pattern called "Lobster Trap" from Shepherd's Crook Crochet. I made a ch-60 and worked the pattern, but with 4 dc at each end for more stability. It's a pretty pattern!
~I made Mike a bacon cheeseburger sammie for supper whil I had chicken corn chowder & crackers.
