Almost Fall!!

Fall is my favorite time of the year! I can have a taste of the season all year 'round with this shades-of-autumn skirt(thrift shop), paired with a brown T-shirt(thrift shop) & accented with twisted bead necklaces(thrift shop), onyx ring(clearance from online store) & silver bear earrings(inherited from my MIL). I can almost smell the woodsmoke in the air!

~Mike took me to work early to help with the newsletters. He also attended 10am mass. Those who tried my Potato Chip Pecan Sandies liked them. I worked on the September calender, bulletins & prayers of the people. Around 11:45am, the a/c stopped working. The guys came & fixed it around 2pm.

...and you can throw it in the dishwasher!!

~Mike drove me to work. At the office, Ms. Jeannine came in to do edits on the bulletins. I gave her a rough-draft September newsletter for editing. I printed/folded/inserted the bulletins, printed up signs for the picnic & got the eggs for the Food Pantry from the kitchen. We handed out 9 bags. JH came in & I learned how to turn 8 1/2" X 11" into ledger (not even sure of the dimension, but bigger than legal).

~Date Nite: After warmup, we shot with our eyes closed to help us "feel" our body position. Some I did good, some not so much. Also, had problems with reloading. It was not my night.

~I got a call from JT to say she may not be in to serve at the 10am service. I told her I would do it.

Little House in the Desert

This outfit reminds me of "Little House on the Prairie". The skirt(thrift shop), in a sweet calico print & home made, has a row of buttons sewn on the front. I pair it with a rose heather t-shirt(thrift shop) & jewelry(necklace by Susan, earring-thrift shop, ring-inherited from MIL) in neutral stones.

~Mike drove me to work. I did edits on bulletins & got them printed out and done quick. I spent the rest of the afternoon working on the September newsletter. I helped Julie with the Food Pantry, where we gave away all 20 bags.

~Date Nite-After warmup, we concentrated on only shooting when we lined up the sights. We also had some classroom time with a chart to show us why our flyers are where they are. Also, before class, I shot the EBR. It was awesome!!

By chance...

...these flowers came up last year near the place where an old bird feeder was. This year, there are 4 plants, last year 1 plant. I would be happy if they took over the whole back wall!!

~I stopped by Big Lots(granola bars, potato chips-not for eating-)before heading up to the church to load bags at the Food Pantry. Chuck is still not feeling well. I also called in payroll & sorted mail.

~I got a few groceries at Albertsons & Dollar Tree didn't have my PB cookie mix! I dropped mail off at Susans.

~I quickly glanced through the dresses at Goodwill, but at $7.49, it would have to be SPECTACULAR!! I tried on dresses at the Family Thrift Center for 2 hours before finally settling on a skirt/t-shirt combo in a shorter(just below the knee instead of ankle-length) & a lower V-neck shirt for the wedding on Saturday. Still looks like me,but slightly more sophisticated. Mike said it looked good!

~I made Mike hotdog cheesy wrap for supper.

Lap Blanket

Granny's Flower Patch lap blanket for St. Mary's Prayer Shawl Ministry. I used the African Violet pattern, but light & medium pastels, cream & sage green.

~I made Pumpkin Blondies, but it turned out to be more like cake, but still tastes good. I also swept the floors.

~I used the rest of the Antique Rose yarn to make a bottle cozy for me, with enough leftover for a rose pin. I also made a rose pin in Orange Blossom multicolor Dazzleaire and a Zombie Bunny in RHS painted Desert/RHW Wood Brown. This one isn't as zombie-looking as the first one I made.

~I made Mike a chicken bacon cheese wrap for supper.

Casual Friday!

Tone-on-tone aloha shirt paired with boy cargo pants. The pink jewelry brings out the colorful band inside the collar.

~I went to Albertsons for a few things & brought them back home before heading pout again. I made a quick run through the Family Thrift Center before heading up to the church. AM met me there to help sort/catalog the items collected for the school supply drive. It seems like more than previous years. We delivered the items, just across the street from the church. I picked up JF's food bag & delivered it. A stop back by the house to pick up/drop off Peanut Butter Crispies for the Napa Boys. Tried on 2 shirts at Goodwill, but both too big.

~Back home, I swept the floor, unloaded the dishwasher & sorted vegetables.

~I made 3 flower pins from RH Lustersheen for headbands. I also started a Round Ripple in Caron Taupe/RHS Frosty Green Fleck for the Food Fair & Bazaar raffle in November.

~I designed a Fruit Snuggy & it is adorable! I'll be making these for the FF&B, too!

But the LORD has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge. Psalm 94:22

Tierra Amarilla, NM

~Mike took me to work. I had two hours to myself (Ms. Jeannine had an eye appointment), so I looked at new recipes to try for the Food Fair. I downloaded Buckeye Brownies & Pumpkin Blondies. There were very few edits on the bulletins & I got them printed/folded/inserted in no time. I also helped Janet with the quarterly statements. She is so happy with the new lap top! She said "Give Mike 3 hugs/kisses for me!", LOL. I helped Julie with the Food Pantry & Fr. Jim/Ms. Mary with names/addresses of parishioners. Ms. Mary picked out a Prayer Shawl for one of our home bound ladies.

~Date Nite: After warmups, we did a whole night of shooting on the move with multiple targets.
Drill #1:Starting at point-in(aiming at the target) from 5ft, controlled pair 1st target, reload(set up with lock-back reload), controlled pair, second target, all while moving forward.
Drill #2:Same as drill #1, but with side movement & controlled pair in 3rd target.
Drill #3:Starting from holster, draw & move at angle, backwards, controlled pair, move sideways right with controlled pair in 2nd & 3rd targets.
Drill #4:Starting from holster, failure drill 1st target, move right, failure drill in 2nd & 3rd targets. Reload, head shot moving left in 1st, 2nd & 3rd targets. The ultimate in multi-tasking!!

~Mike put the starter in my Jeep first thing this morning! I luvs me some Napa Man!!

~Mike took me to work, left then came back for 10am mass. Not too many bills to pay. Took notes at the Food Fair meeting, faxed a permit request to the city. Worked on bulletins.

~I sorted more donated yarn. We had burgers for supper & watched The Eagle. It was more of a drama than we prefer, but it was okay.

Children of God

We are all the same in God's eyes & deserving of the freedom of the 2nd Amendment.

~I picked up Mike from work. I made him a chicken bacon cheese wrap for supper.

Prayer Shawl

Diamond Prayer Shawl in Teal (closer in shade to the color dot) for St. Mary's Prayer Shawl Ministry.

~Chuck called last night & is not feeling well, so i loaded the bags at the Food Pantry alone. I stopped by the Family Thrift Center, but didn't get anything. I dropped Mike's coffee off, which he forgot this morning. My final stop was mailing off a package & when I came out of the post office, my Jeep wouldn't start! I had to call Mike to to try & jump me, but it still wouldn't start. He took the battery back to work with him & drove me home.

~I made Granola Muffins, but got distracted by sweeping the floor & left the first batch in the pan too long after taking them out of the oven & now they are just granola. The other batch was okay. I also ironed some shirts & made bacon.

~I made a few 1-round granny squares & that was it.

~When Mike came home, he picked up a few tools & we went back up to the post office to pick up my Jeep. It still would not turn over with the charged battery. Mike jumped it & let it roll back a bit to start it.

New category!

Thrift Shop Fashion
"Posh Patchwork"
The Skirt(thrift shop) is comprised of patches in various shades of neutral tans & browns with shades of rose. I chose to bring out the rose shade by pairing it with a rose T-shirt(thrift shop) & kept the jewelry(earrings-Dollar Tree, necklace-thrift shop, bracelet-handcrafted especially for me by a KY artisan in burl oak) & purse(thrift shop) in neutral shades.

~We got groceries at Walmart & Smiths.

Saturday, August 6, 2011

Dark Chocolate

~Dark chocolate is my favorite! This is known by all my friends, especially JH, who brings me chocolate from Trader Joe's. The 72% is good, but i prefer the regular dark chocolate. It is not too sweet (like Hersheys), but still melts in your mouth, like milk chocolate. Life is too short not to eat good dark chocolate!

~I attended the DoK meeting & am now feeling better about things. I plan to renew for another year.

~At Goodwill, I got another name-brand cord cover shirt.

~Back home, I spent the rest of the afternoon crocheting. I made a Roseburg Hat in Caron Pounder Black/Mainstays Vallejo Tan & a Neckwarmer in retro Phildar Horizons (like the "new" style shaded tweed yarns-not so new, hey!) acrylic/wool Grassland (pale cornmeal yellow shaded with olive green & light rusty brown). I added two brown leather buttons. It is very handsome!

~We had burgers for supper & watched Sucker Punch. It was very strange, reminding us in the look of Sin City, but the fact that it had chicks with guns made it watchable! :)

Friday, August 5, 2011

When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy. Psalm 94:19

Pink Rain

~I went to the Family Thrift Center 1/2-price sale, but only found 1 Tshirt & 1 long-sleeve cover shirt. I dropped off a food bag for a parishioner & S'more Brownies for the Napa boys.

~Back home, I made Peanut Butter Crispies & spent the afternoon sorting donated yarn, making scrap granny squares as I went along.

~I made Mike a chicken bacon cheese wrap for supper.

Safe Room

00 buck will get the job done without over-penetration

~Mike took me to work & spent about 1/2 an hour with the lap top. Edits to bulletins, then print/fold/insert-repeat. Troy came in with Brothers of the Hood stuff, bringing me an apple fritter & chocolate cake donut. It's what I had for lunch! Not many people for Food Pantry.

~Date Nite: After warmups, we did a whole night of low-light drills with flashlights. Controlled pairs, failure drills, strong-hand, retention, reloads & multiples. I did better with the reloads than before, now knowing I have to be aggressive. Fun night, but very tiring, both mentally & physically(it was steaming hot in the small range!).

Sweet Skullcap in White/Dusty Pink sold to Margaret in MA

~At the office, I worked on bulletins & prayers of the people for the whole month of August! I also did a new coffee hour signup sheet & started on Septembers newsletter. I know I am way ahead, but i never know if something out of the ordinary may come up & take my extra time. I did have to yell at a teenager twice to stop skate-boarding on our parking lot(posted for insurance purposes).

~I sorted through some more donated yarn. There was a skein of retro RHS Cottage Garden (white, dark country blue, country rose & dark seafoam green-totally '80's!). I decided to make a gnome/elf hat with it,since it was so soft. It is child/pre-teen size & so adorable!

~We had bacon cheeseburger wraps for supper.

Monday, August 1, 2011
