Words to live by...

Sent to me by my Mom,it hangs on the furnace-room door. I see it every morning when I leave the bedroom. Live every day as if it's your last, learn something new every day!

~I went to the "downtown" Big Lots & they had Mike's glucosomine drink! At Savers, I got a short-sleeve cover shirt, Tshirt & sleeveless buttonup shirt. At Goodwill, I got 2 short-sleeve cover shirts, a skirt & seven 6oz skeins of yarn(99cents each!). Good day to make up for the last 2 trips. I stopped off at Albertsons for eggs, raspberry syrup, bagels for the doggies(hamburger buns were cheaper,so got those instead).

~Back home, I made a batch of 12 Chocolate Banana snack cakes & a 5 1/2" x 7 1/2" cake. I can't decide on Caramel Cream Cheese frosting or Peanut Butter frosting. I accidently left out the vanilla extract, but they still tasted good.

~I printed out a pattern for a thread pineapple square & used unknown Cream worsted yarn & a J hook, thinking I would make it into a stole. I didn't like the way it layed when finished, so I ripped it out & started a new shawl, using the Gradient Shawl pattern. I like the way it looks!

~Mike closed the store.

Will

This article was reprinted this morning in the Abq Journal. Gun-owners are "regular" people who just refuse to be victims.
~After a few edits on the bulletins,I printed/folded/inserted & was done by 11:15am. I spent the rest of the day working on next weeks bulletins & even a little on next months newsletter. Julie liked the Zucchini petite loaf I baked & Chuck was going to have his Zucchini Coconut petite loaf for dessert tonight. Julie brought a ball of RHS Carrot & picked out the Durango Hat pattern for me to make for her. We gave away 11 bags at the Food Pantry. Mary Stearns brought me a hat she bought & asked me how it was made for her daughter who knits. I told her the basics, but crochet & knit are totally different!
~I dropped off Ginger Coconut bars for the Napa Boys.
~Date Nite:I did my 2-year requalify before class. Emphasis on "aggressiveness" on pushing out the gun in a straight line & pulling the trigger. I am at 2 seconds & below on first shot placement at 5 & 7 yards, but need to get better on more accurate, but quick,second-shot placement. Reloads were godd, too! Practice, practice, practice! Several of the guys said they would come to our Blessing!

~Busy at work!Along with the normal edit/print/fold/inserting of bulletins, I did some more work on the newsletter & printed off a copy for editing. I discovered at the Vestry meeting that we are Community Partners with Albertsons(they donate to the church when our parishioners purchase groceries),so I did a little write up in the newsletter, printed out temporary scan stubs & ordered permanet key rings. I learned from more than one person that we used to have this program, but were told it was cancelled! Julie brought me a zucchini.

~Mike actually has a real day off!
~Work was super-busy!Just a lot of little tthings to do,extra letters to mail out along with normal bills. Norm brought me a chocolate muffin! Coffe Hour was a small group, but fun talk about farm life from several people. Rough drafts of bulletins & PoP.
~After changing clothes & cutting up brownies, Mike & I stopped by Charlie's Sporting Goods to look at 1911's. I liked the grip on one that the barrel was too short, but liked the weight of one with a too-long barrell.
~Date Nite-I could tell as soon as we started warm-up drills that I am over the mental barrier of trying to make my shots hit in a small area(3x5) instead of a larger area(6x8). Randy, our instructor, was very impressed. We also did reloading drills(cut my finger on a mag!) and shooting with our eyes closed,so we can "listen" to what the gun is saying to us. We also lined up the sights, then closed our eyes & did 3 shots. Both times I did this,my shots were in a 3" circle, which means I have the right hand/body alignment. Oh,everybody LOVED the Chocolate Brownies with Chocolate icing!

God Bless Our Home

This sign(3.99 at the Family Thrift Center) was a pale pine until I lightly sanded it & rubbed it with brown shoe polish. It now looks like an antique!

~Mike had an appointment for physical therapy this morning, then was going to work afterward. I don't know how things went.

~At work, I worked on bulletins, the newsletter, August wall calender & sent out letters. The copier guy came in & cleaned the machine. It was leaving smudges on the paper.

~Mike closed the store, but did have good results on PT. He will go back on Thursday & Friday.

~I worked on the Painted Desert round ripple blanket.

Monday, July 19, 2010

~Took Rainbow Chocolate Chip Blondies to the NAPA boys.

~I attended 10:30am service & stayed a little while for coffee hour.

~Back home, I practiced some with Mike's 1911. It feels too big for my hand & I don't like the safety. It just feels awkward compared to my Kahr.

~Mike got off work at 2pm & we went down to the range to help with CCW class. With all the overtime he has worked the past coiple of weeks, he was able to purchased a used 1911 5"(his original was 4") for a really good price. Class went well with me, Mike, Tom & Brian to help.

~Back home, I made a double-batch of Chocolate Jubilee cookies. It took FOREVER!. I was able to do a load of laundry & sweep the floors, while making the cookies, which turned out to be about 8 dozen. Mine aren't as pretty as the ones online, but they taste great!

Soda Dam

~At work, there was a meeting to make the final changes to Ms Patti's memorial service bulletin. Ms Jeannine came in & edited it before the final printing. It turns out we both go to the Family Thrift Center, just on different days. I think Fr. Jim got a kick out of our "thrifty" discussion,LOL. I printed/folded/inserted(10:30am has 3!) bulletins & worked on the newsletter. The Brothers of the Hood came & tried to fix the office file room door, but it's still not closing right.

~After work, I dropped off Scotcheroos for the Napa Boys.

~Date Nite: We had a discussion about the shooting at Emcore, about evil in the world & what to do in such situations if you're not allowed to carry concealed at your workplace. After some warm up & drills, we were taught some close combat techniques, basically how to create enough distance to employ a weapon(gun/knife). We finished the evening by doing the APD Qualifying Drill. Passing score is 70, I got 82 & Mike got 92. I shoot better under pressure & when there's competition.

~I went to Target to pick up bras & Tshirts. They no longer carry my style of bras! I tried a new style,in 2 sizes. One was too big,one was too small. I DESPISE BRA SHOPPING! They also had no sleeveless "muscle" t's.

~I got 3 boxes of brownie mix at Big Lots.

~Walgreens had Cokes 3 for $10,but not the Coke Zero Vanilla Mike likes.

~I dropped off Peanut Butter Blondies for the Napa Boys.

~Date Nite:There were 16 "gunslingers",2 new ones from last weeks class,so we did alot of timed drills. It does make a difference leaving your finger on the trigger & riding the reset for the second shot. I need to trust that I'm on target & just pull the trigger when I see the sights. I'm the most accurate in the class, just need to speed it up!

~My phone is working!

Can Cozy

Use my Bottle Cozy pattern, stopping after about 21 rounds, for a quickie Can Cover!

~Mike took me to work so he can use my Jeep for the day. I made a few edits to the bulletins before printing/folding/inserting. I worked on things for 07/11. I helped Chuck with the food pantry before leaving work at 1:15pm.

~Mike & I attended day-2 of Defensive Handgun Technique class. One hour of class & 5 hours on the range. Again,I refreshed my ideas on proper tactics by teaching others. Of the class of 13 people, I think,at least 4 will probably attend Choir Practice(Date Nite).
